Work

  • Intern, KamiLimu (Feb, 2024)
  • Junior Security Analyst, Yelbridges Limited (May - Aug, 2023)

I am passionate about cybersecurity and making the internet safer and more meaningful for everyone. As a Junior Security Analyst Intern at Yelbridges, I performed system monitoring, penetration testing, and security audits and managed security services for various clients.

While in Yelbridges, I took a keen interest in mobile application security and I started working towards the PJMT.

  • Co-Founder and Club Lead, Cyber Security Club of Kimathi (2022 - ‘23)

As a Computer Science Student, by some *cause or another, while in my first year, I enrolled in a twelve-month Software Engineering Programme by AlX. Three trimesters into the program, I knew I liked DevOPs more than any other.

This drew me into liking the terminal, and I later shifted to self-study cybersecurity using free courses, tryhackme, and YouTube. I started searching for a community of other students interested in cybersecurity on campus.

The search led to a friend with whom we founded Cyberkimathi. It has been a good ride, and the club has a workspace in tryhackme with 38 50 students.

  • Peer Mentor, KamiLimu (2022 - ‘23)

A restless soul may never rest, but it will surely experience wonders worth the restlessness. And that was mine when I applied to KamiLimu’s cohort 6 as a mentee and later cohort 7 as a peer mentor.

As a peer mentor, I had four mentees with whom we shared laughs and endured long and needful calls to complete our tasks and activities. Most importantly, witnessing their growth in writing and presenting speeches, building self-confidence, and innovating was worth the restlessness.

  • Student Coach, SCINOV (2022 - Present)

Only after high school did I learn computers would do more than play games and music, watch videos, and write documents. Programming wasn’t something I was familiar with, let alone computational thinking.

Nonetheless, through my volunteership at SCINOV Africa, I have been coaching 30+ students in computational thinking and programming using Scratch. This has as often brought me joy as I have tapped into it for purpose and meaning.
